They say "Diamonds are a girl's best friend" not so, Fishman Jewelers has become my very best friend. I had a 1.50 diamond resting in peace in my jewelry box for twenty-seven years, never wearing it. On a trip to NYC with my sister who was having her diamond reset by Fishman's I brought mine along. Well, Josh Fishman( a genius ) worked his magic and I now have a supremely beautiful diamond ring set in platinum with baguettes on either side. Thank you Josh for making me feel like a princess. Josh Fishman is an extremely talented man whom I can recommend without reservation !!!!!

Hi Josh,

I don't fully understand exactly what a diamond does to the opposite sex, nor do I really ever expect to...however I can tell you how they react when they receive a "new" one (or two as in this case).  They (diamonds) have a tendency to bring a host of emotions including tears.  Yes, Jaime loves her new princess studs...as we both knew she would.  I showed them to Mom when they came today, and she cried (back to the whole not understanding thing).  I know how it makes me feel when I see those emotions and I suppose I'm not the only one.  I'm sure that's why your in business and will remain so for a very long time.  She could not be any happier with her earrings, and I could not be any happier for her.  As always...thank you for everything.

Hello Josh:

My brother is over for a visit and he brought us the rings.   They are fantastic.  The redesigned engagement ring is stunning.  The two side diamonds are gorgeous and perfectly complement the center stone.  

My wife couldn't be happier with it.  We spend quite a while after dinner last night watching how the ring scatters candlelight all over the room.  The wedding band also fits great and looks wonderful.  Thanks for the resizing and repair.

Good Day Josh!

Well we finally received Jean's ring last week. Paul had been delayed a number of times from going to Connecticut so it was some time before he was
able to send it to us.

Jean was flabbergasted to say the least. She is a humble farm girl and at first glance the ring
appeared to her as a bit overwhelming and much too large!

In the following days however she has worn it around the house and has come to admire it and appreciate the great sentiment that it represents.

The ring came out fantastic. My fiancée, Adrien, can't stop looking at it in amazement. Although she may not have picked it out exactly, she realizes it is what she wanted and more. I would like to tell you about my recent "first time" experience with A. Fishman and Son. Several months ago I started my search for a engagement ring and wedding band. I am 50 years old and never have been married and knew absolutely nothing about diamonds. I started my search in the high end retailers. After picking myself up off the floor from the sticker shock I moved over to the middle of the road retailers. At this point I knew I needed to educate myself a little before I made such a large (important) purchase. I was just getting too much conflicting information from all the retailers.

One of the positive things about the Internet is it has a wealth of information. For two weeks I did nothing but study diamonds. Now armed with a little knowledge I made the decision to source my diamond on line. The prices on line seemed so much lower than the retailers. I thought I could put all the on line dealers on the same playing field by only selecting GIA certified diamonds which met my criteria. I searched all the websites and narrowed my search down what I thought was the best diamond. I strictly used the GIA report and price as my criteria.

I had a very specific type of ring I wanted and the dealer who listed the diamond I selected would not guarantee in writing that he could deliver this exact ring. So I started searching for a local jeweler who could manufacture the ring and who would be okay with me providing the diamond. I didn't have too much success. So I was in the position of having a source for the diamond but no one who could manufacture the very specific ring I wanted. I started searching again on line and found A. Fishman and Son. I sent an email and almost immediately I heard back from Josh Fishman. We exchanged a few emails and Josh indicated he was willing to make the ring and was okay with me providing the diamond. I decided at this point to talk with Josh on the phone. From the beginning I had a good feeling about Josh and his company. I liked the fact that I was actually dealing with the owner of the company. He explained many things to me and corrected me on a few thing without making me feel like I was an idiot. One of several things Josh explained to me was you can not simply judge a diamond by the GIA report. The on line dealers in most cases do not have possession of the diamonds they are selling. They are simply listing diamonds on there website from other wholesalers and are strictly selling off the reports. You could have 2 diamonds graded the same by GIA but as far as appearance one might stand out dramatically over the other (as far as brilliance, sparkle and fire). This is where A. Fishman and Son is different than most of the on line dealers. A. Fishman and Son actually has a diamond inventory. Josh explained that if he is going buy a diamond and put it in his inventory then it must be a diamond he feels is worth investing in.

To make a long story short, sight unseen I decided not only to have Josh manufacture the engagement ring but I also bought a diamond Josh had in inventory instead of the one from the on line source. I also bought a wedding band from them. I put all my trust in him based on the many conversations we had. Ultimately I felt Josh was looking out for my best interest and I trusted him.

Upon completion of both rings Josh sent me photographs. The wedding band was perfect. The engagement ring had a problem and was not exactly what I expected. Josh with absolutely no hesitation remade the ring. A few weeks later he sent me a photograph of the remade ring and it appeared to be perfect. I recently received both rings and both appear to be perfect. Both have appraised well above what I paid Josh for them and most importantly the diamond was everything Josh represented to me. It was what Josh calls a "pretty diamond". The independent GIA certified appraiser who I had appraise both rings could not believe what I paid for this diamond.

The big test will be at Christmas when I present theses rings to my girl friend. I am 100% confident that she will feel the same way I do.

I highly recommend A. Fishman and Son. Josh went out of his way to make sure he delivered what I expected. I could not be more pleased with the service and most importantly the product that he delivered. A. Fishman and Son will always be my jewelry source.

My fiancé and I went to Josh because thirty two years ago, my parents went to his father, David, for their engagement ring, which my mother still adores. This was probably the best shopping experience of my life: Josh was incredibly patient (I took an hour and a half the first time we came in and then insisted on coming in the next day for another forty-five minutes) and made sure I never felt rushed or overwhelmed by the decision.

We were searching for a fancy gem--first I wanted a purple or green sapphire and then we decided to look at blue sapphires. Josh went through his whole collection of sapphires with us, even going through some jewelry he had already made and offered to take a gem from one of those pieces, which ultimately was what happened. I was also struck by how committed Josh is to making beautiful, high quality jewelry--he seems constitutionally incapable of bringing himself to make a piece of jewelry that isn't of the highest quality and beautifully designed and crafted.

It feels very rare to meet someone these days like Josh, who takes pride in his work and sees it as a true craft. I cannot think of a shopping experience that has left me happier.

And I have to admit, since the ring has been on my finger for only 28 hours, it has taken me a very long time to write this review, since I keep stopping to gaze at it!

I wanted to take a moment to speak to the integrity and creativeness of A Fishman & Son. Over the past 10 years I have made 3 purchases from A Fishman for my 15th, 20th and recently my 25th anniversaries. Each time my wife was totally overjoyed (speechless) when receiving her new jewelry. Each piece special and totally different from what you will see in most jewelry stores.

Growing up in the retail business and specializing in wedding attire I have made many “friends” in the jewelry business and have made many purchases from my “friends” who were always giving me some type of deal because of our personal and professional relationship.

Prior to my 15th wedding anniversary I wanted to upgrade my wife’s diamond ring, returning to my friend whom I purchased it from. After doing some general research on the internet with regards to diamond pricing I had a relatively good idea what the upgrade would cost me. Understand that I am a careful shopper with time on my side and was discriminating in all aspects of the diamonds quality relative to price. I wanted my wife to have a spectacular ring that she would be proud to wear everyday.

My friend greeted me with enthusiasm and was eager to call his wholesalers to get some stones for me to look at. I explained that I wanted to trade in the original diamond; however he put the hard sell on me to keep it for another use, being that it is sentimental and my wife would not want to sell it. He then told me there is no market for used diamonds and could not trade it in. I went shopping and found a stone on the internet. I was able to cross reference the GIA certificate to A Fishman & Son. I live 3 hours from New York City and wanted to see the stone. I called and spoke to Josh Fishman who made himself available for me to see the diamond as well as others to compare it with. The real surprise was on my trip to NY. I also looked at other diamonds each time including with Josh. The quality of my original diamond was NOT close to what it was represented by my “friend” who had supplied me with an appraisal at the time of purchase specifying size, color, clarity and cut. Comparing it to other diamonds it was clear I was taken advantage of. Mr. Fishman had the best product for the money and was happy to spend time with me educating and earning his trust.

Having very specific ideas on what I wanted the jewelry to look like as well as excellent brilliant diamonds, I brought Josh cutouts and photos of different settings highlighting different parts of each and asked him to make her new ring. When agreeing on the final setting I asked Josh how high to make the center stone relative to the side stones and he responded that he knew it had to be just right. I pressed him on specifics and he assured me he knew. He then explained to me the difference between custom handmade jewelry and mass produced settings made from casts. Again taking his time to educate me and earn his trust. In the end my wife’s diamond ring was spectacular. She has worn it for 10 years and there is not a week that goes by that she doesn’t get comments that it is the most beautiful ring that they have ever seen.

At our 20th anniversary we repeated the process and A Fishman & Son came through again with a most amazing wedding band. And just last week for out 25th anniversary Josh made me an exquisite diamond heart and chain that is also so different yet something she can regularly wear.

Every year or so when visiting NY we bring her jewelry in for cleaning, polishing and to check the settings. Josh and his staff treat us like new customers and each time the pieces look like new and there has never been a charge for any of this maintenance.

Please be assured if you are in the market for a special piece of quality jewelry you will not get treated any better of fairer than at A Fishman & Son!

My experience with Josh and A. Fishman and Son was nothing short of phenomenal. First and foremost, my fiancé absolutely loved the ring that Josh had made for us. However, what I really appreciated was the time and patience Josh extended to me as I sat in his office for over 2 hours and debated over the center diamond, the type of setting and the overall engagement ring. I clearly had a lot on my mind, and Josh was extraordinarily helpful. He never once gave me the impression that he was trying to "sell' or close me on anything, and was very articulate and detailed in his answers to my questions. It's clear that Josh is trying to create customers, not simply move product. Case in point, of all the diamonds he showed me, Josh actually nudged me towards a lower cost stone, simply because based on my description of what I wanted, he thought that would be the right diamond. Again, I can't say enough about Josh's professionalism, approach and knowledge of the industry. Plus, he has phenomenal diamonds.
